 Aam pana (Mango panna/ Kairi panha)

Kairi panha is a refreshing Indian drink made with raw, sour and tender mangoes with additional spices to flavors.

This is well known homemade summer drinks in the northern part of the India.

It is very delicious beverage which everybody love and drink in the hot summer.

Mango panna holds body cooling properties.

Ingredients

  • Raw mangoes
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder
  • Mint leaves
  • Salt (Rock or black salt)
  • Jaggery

During summer, one can get raw mangoes very easily.

Take one or two raw mango and cook it in a pressure cooker.

Remove it pulp and make paste and add good amount of water in it.

Now add some chutney of the Mint leaves and roasted powder of cumin seeds.

Finally add black or rock salt as per taste. Sometimes people also add jaggery to make it sweet and sour.

Now your Aam pana is ready to drink!!!

It can be served as chilled with ice cubes or with regular tap water.

Jal-jeera

Jal-jeera is a simple and very easily to make summer drinks at home.

It is also a yummy summer drinks for kids.

It is very effective in digestion related issues during summer.

Ingredients

  • Roasted cumin seeds powder
  • Salt (Rock or black salt)
  • Coriander powder
  • Black pepper
  • Asafoetida
  • Sugar
  • Lemon

Prepared the Jal-jeera powder mix by combining all the ingredients and store in a jar.

One can make it instantly by putting one spoon in a glass of water and churn it. It can be consume after adding the lemon juice before drinking.

Now your Jal-jeera is ready to drink!!!

It can be served as chilled with ice cubes or with regular tap water.

Buttermilk (Chaas)

Buttermilk is classic Indian summer drink.

In fact it is all season drink but in summer you should take more butter milk.

 Ingredients

  • Curd/ Yogurt – 1 cup
  • Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Water- 4 Cups
  • Black salt or rock or regular salt (as per taste)
  • Mint or coriander (to garnish) – 3-4 leaves

Take a cup of curd and add good amount of water and churn it to make a white liquid.

Now add salt preferably rock or black salt and roasted Jeera powder (cumin seeds).

Garnish it with mint or coriander leaves.

Now your tasty Buttermilk drink is ready to serve.

It can be served as chilled with ice cubes.

You may also add a little sugar if needed.

This butter milk can be consumed at morning during breakfast or during lunch time and should avoid during evening.

Lassi

Lassi is a blended yogurt drink.

It is little thicker than chaas or Buttermilk.

It is an amazing sweet drink very popular in the Northern parts of India.

Ingredients

  • Curd- 250g
  • Sugar- 5-6 tsp
  • Cardamom powder 1/8 tsp
  • Rosewater to flavor
  • Ice cubes
  • Saffron strands, pistachios and almonds to garnish

Take curd, add sugar and ice cubes and churn it to make thick liquid by hand or using mixer/ grinder.

Flavored the lassi with Cardamom powder and rosewater and finally garnish with saffron strands, pistachios and almonds.

You can also flavored it with mango and strawberry.

Sabja with lemon juice

Sabja with lemon juice  is an excellent combination which balances electrolytes in the body.

Ingredients: (for 500ml)

  • Lemon- 2
  • Sabja seed – 2 tsp
  • Sugar – 10- 12 tsp
  • Cardamom powder (for flavor) – 1
  • Ice cubes as required
  • Water as required

For making it, first Sabja or chia seeds were soak down in water for some time.

Make the lemon juice and put some water soaked sabja seeds.

Drink this juice once or twice in a day.

Since it is high in vitamin C, it will protects your skin from sunburns and rashes.

Watermelon juice

Watermelon is very good to hydrate your body during summer.

So one should drink watermelon juice in hot climate of summer.

 Ingredients

  • Diced watermelon – 2 cups
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Sugar ½ tsp (If required)
  • Lime juice (optional)

Prepared the watermelon juice by blending the diced watermelon until smooth puree.

If you want more sweater juice you can also add some amount of the sugar while blending.

Your watermelon juice is ready and can be drink, sip by sip slowly.

Rose water sharbat

Ingredients

  • Rose flowers
  • Sugar

Take two glasses of water and half a cup of sugar.

Boil the water with the sugar and once boiled remove it from the burner and add rose petals (pink desi) in it and cover.

Once it cooled down make a liquid out of it and drink it as rose sharbat.

This can be serves with ice cubes.

Sattu Sharbat

Sattu sharbat is one of refreshing as well a filling summer drink.

It is one of the special drink of the Bihar (North India) which is being used to keep body cool during the hot summer days.

Ingredients

  • Sattu flour
  • Sugar
  • Water

Sattu can be made from either of roasted Chana daal or Masoor dal or wheat flour.

 To make Sattu sharbat, mixed the Sattu powder and sugar in water and drink.

Lemonade or Nimbu Paani

 Making of the Nimbu Paani is very quick and easy.

Ingredients

  • Lemons
  • Black pepper powder
  • Roasted cumin powder
  • Salt (Black or rock salt)
  • Sugar (as per taste)
  • Water

Take a glass of water and squeeze the lemon in it. After that add the powder of the black pepper, roasted cumin, salt and sugar.

Mix well so that sugar can dissolve completely.

Now your Lemonade is ready to drink!!!

It can be served as chilled with ice cubes.
